Malabrigo Quickie Surprised by Joy by Jessica Anderson
When you are struggling the middle of the seemingly endless grey days, the hardest thing is to find hope in the middle of it all. Yet, those tiny moments, those glimpses of joy surprise us beyond measure. It’s in them that we grow, learn and move forward. Deceptively simple, this shawl gives you a pause to be surprised by joy with a simple pop of color, a band of garter stitch worked on a grey background of stockinette. The piece is completed with a dainty ribbed ruffle edging for just an extra touch of care. Pick your favorite pair of colors and this one has the potential to bring you joy all year long.
The above words from the designer seemed to be the best way to introduce this beautiful new Quickie from designer Jessica Anderson. To create the pattern Surprised by Joy Jessica chose two lovely skeins of Arroyo to craft a cozy top down triangular shawl.
A combination of stripes and simple texture, this project can be your constant companion at knit night or as you travel. While I love the combination of Pearl and Borrajas, this design is the perfect opportunity to play with one of our more variegated colorways! Take a look at the mix of colors in your skein and make sure to select a solid color that will contrast with all of them.
And did I mention the perfect ending? I'm not quite sure how she achieved it, but the tiny vertical blocks of color that skip daintily along the edging are just a perfect ending to this beautiful piece!
